Not every blanket needs cold weather as an excuse. Sometimes the air conditioning is a little ambitious, the couch is calling, or having something soft nearby simply sounds better than not having it. A lightweight blanket fits comfortably into those in-between moments, when a little extra coziness is exactly enough.

Brand new has its charms, but softness is one of those things that can improve with time. Wash after wash, a well-loved blanket settles in a little more, losing that untouched feeling and becoming increasingly familiar. There’s no need to keep it pristine when using it is precisely what makes it better.

Favorite blankets tend to become known quantities around the house. Everyone knows which one is the soft one, which one lives within reach, and which one mysteriously gets claimed before anyone else has a chance. At some point, putting it neatly away becomes mostly theoretical.
